Before the story broke ESPN's Jeff Darlington (formerly of the Miami Herald) dropped a few bread crumbs to see if the Dolphins fans in refresh Twitter mode would bite.
Surely enough, the Germans didn't bomb Pearl Harbor and the Dolphins fans who still hadn't seen Animal House yet were in fact-check correction mode.
Nonetheless, Darlington was all over this for ESPN and Ian Rappaport was a close second for the NFL Network.
At any rate, Adam Gase went into near walk away mode exemplifying his version of the Art of the Deal and got his man in Jay Cutler to lead the Dolphins and keep the energy in the building at a high level.
Some fans are wondering why not just stick with quarterback Matt Moore-except the Dolphins collectively went out and found a solution to Tannehill's possible season ending surgery despite the early inklings that Cutler would quite possibly "lean toward staying retired."
At this point, there are more details to follow, but Jay Cutler is a Miami Dolphin and the results will mark the legacy that is Adam Gase.
Time will tell Dolfans, time will certainly tell.
