Just this morning, on a quarterback run, Tannehill planted with his left foot and collapsed on the sideline.
Dolphins fans are wishing for the best, but might be in for the worst as Tannehill likely could be out for a considerable amount of time.
The injury comes at the worst time as the Dolphins signal caller and leader has a grasp of the offense to the point that he corrects his head coach Adam Gase in the film room.
However, while there is uncertainty about his injury today, there is a potential solution.
Just minutes ago, on KNBR 680 (SF Bay Area) Krueger and Frandsen show, Larry Krueger touched on the report by Josina Anderson of ESPN that free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been discussed as a "potential contingency" by the Dolphins front office.
On one hand, the fact that Kaepernick could be a solution is troubling for some fans who are not in agreement with his political stand last season. However, Kaepernick as Krueger mentioned comes into a situation "with some weapons" with Ajayi, Landry, Parker leading the offense.
It stands to reason that after everything that has been invested in upgrading the defense, the offense needs a leader to push the ball down the field.
Why not at least consider Kaepernick?
Kaepernick comes into an offense where he could thrive in rolling out similarly to Tannehill. In addition, Kap would certainly benefit from a strong running game and can still run and better than any QB in the NFL thus giving defenses fits.
If there is anything about today that teaches you something, the Dolphins refuse to rollover and tank the season to replace Tannehill in 2018.
For now, let's wait and see what happens and trust that Adam Gase and his front office will have a plan in place to be contenders this season.
